Today’s Run: 6.00 miles
I am on a schedule. Just a few more days to go…
I begin training for my Ultra Marathon this coming Wednesday. I will be running 15 miles. Ideally, I will be doing two longs runs back to back on Wednesday and Thursday. Lacking my x-ray vision into the future, I registered for a Half Marathon for this coming Saturday. I figured that the Half Marathon (HM) would be the kick off for the training.
Things change.
We go to church on Sunday mornings. I am usually a little tired sitting in the service and sometimes have a tough time staying attentive. Since this is the case, I figured that running 20 miles and then going to church would be counterproductive. I changed my training schedule.
Can you do that!?!
Yes.
Instead of my back to back long runs being on Saturday and Sunday, they will now be on Wednesday and Thursday. My “shorter” runs will be on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. My rest days are scheduled to be on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Now back to the Half Marathon.
I am supposed to do the two long runs on consecutive days. The big kick off will be a compromise. I will do my first long run on Wednesday and the second long run on Saturday~the Half Marathon. I thought about doing the first long run on Thursday so that the long runs would be closer together but I don’t want to be too pooped to make a decent showing at the race. Call me vain. I do not want to embarrass myself in front of a lot of people.
Yes, officially my Ultra training begins on Wednesday and I am already juggling the schedule. Let us just keep that our little secret, shall we?
