Fitbit and Customer Service

Today’s Run:  7.26 miles

I received a Fitbit Zip for Christmas from my daughter.  We were visiting her in Colorado last year at the end of November and she gave my husband and I each a Fitbit Zip as our Christmas present.  I instantly fell in love with it.  What a cool little gadget!

I wore my Fitbit religiously.

I was astounded to discover how INactive I was.  Since I am a distance runner, I expected to be able to obtain the goal of 10,000 steps a day with ease.  I was SO WRONG!  On running days, it was a piece of cake, but on non-running days, I was doing good to reach half of that.  I spent a great deal of my day sitting on my tush.  That had to change!

After a great deal of effort on my part, I now on average get 15,000-20,000 steps per day.  I no longer sit when I am on my laptop.  I stand.   I walk around a lot when I am cooking instead of standing in one place.  I check on the chickens~A lot (I worry about them in the heat and take down ice and cool water to them…).  Those steps all add up.

Then it happened.  My Fitbit died last week!  No more steps to count!  I was lost without my Fitbit Zip!!!  My husband tried to “reboot” it for me but when we took out the battery, we found it was corroded from sweat~from me wearing it on my sports bra when I ran.  Hmmm…that should not have happened!

Enter Customer Service.

They needed a receipt/copy of the receipt.  Seeing as this was a gift and my daughter (bless her heart) keeps nothing, this was not an option.  My husband bought me a new Fitbit.  This time a Fitbit One.  Cool Beans!

Customer Service apologized for me having to purchase a new Fitbit and offered my their “Premium” software/membership ($60.00 value ?) for one year.  Complimentary~On the House~Free!  Now, who was I to turn them down.

Five minutes after receiving that email, I was the proud recipient of the Fitbit Premium software. I have been playing with it and learning all sorts of things about my self and my activity level(s).  I have some catching up to do to regain all my lost steps from last week but all is not lost!

Fitbit Customer Service really is customer service.  Well done Fitbit!
