Today’s Run: 14 miles
Who ever heard of frying Bass I’d like to know! The way to cook Bass is to make a foil envelope, put in a bit of white wine, add a little Tarragon and steam it in the oven for a few minutes until the Bass is nice and flaky. Mmmm! And low cal, low fat~tasty!
But~
My husband and son went fishing today at a friends lake. They caught four, well really five Bass but one jumped out of the boat and back into the lake. They brought me home their “winnings” and asked me to fry them.
“Fry them!” I exclaimed. I do not know how to fry fish and I do not want to learn how. I then explained how I would go about fixing that fish. They wrinkled their collective noses up at me and declared that they would “cook it themselves”. And so they did.
They got out the milk, eggs, flour and crackers.
My husband dipped the fish in the milk, rolled it in the flour. Next he dipped it in the egg and covered it with crunched up crackers and fried it. Both he and my son loved it. To each his own.
I do not particularly care for fried food. Too much fat, cholesterol, calories…not worth it! I’ll stick with my version of steamed in white wine Bass.
