Chicken Idioms

Today’s Run:  5.20 miles

Today’s blog is dedicated to chicken idioms~all those sayings you have learned and maybe use in your everyday conversation without realizing it.  I never paid that much attention to these little sayings until I started keeping chickens myself.

I received hens as a Christmas gift this past year.  During these last well almost seven months, I have learned that these colloquialisms have earned their place in our culture.  They are true sayings.  They fit the bill, so to speak.  So, without further ado, here are a few expressions that have wiggled their way into our everyday turn of a phrase.  See if you can think of a few of your own!

~Don’t chicken out on me.

~The chickens come home to roost.

~Hen pecked

~Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.

~She rules the roost.

~Pecking order

~Madder than a wet hen.

~No spring chicken.

~Chicken hearted.

Those are a few that come to mind.  I would be interested in seeing any more that you may have!
