Today’s Run: 5.50 miles
We ran as early this morning as we could get ourselves up and around. We hit the road between 6:30-7:00 am. The temp. was already in the upper 70’s and the humidity was at 89%. Toasty!
Today we ran the old tried and true~Schaeffer’s Chapel. You already know how I feel about that route but I will tell you again…I love running Schaeffer’s Chapel. It is my absolute favorite route! But, I forgot that there is hardly any shade on this route so it was a little warm today.
BUT~it was an awesome run!!!
So Summer is finally here…And it is here to stay, until November or so. (We ran a half marathon this past November 7 and it was 70 F. by the end of the race! I remember melting towards the end…too hot!)
Slowly but surely we are getting acclimated to the warmer temps and none too soon! We will be beginning our “long runs” for our marathon training on Saturday mornings~runs that will take 4-5 hours to complete. We need to be adjusted to the heat and humidity. So, mornings like today are great! Let us see…if we begin our long runs at 5:30 am when it is only 70 F. and it takes us 4-5 hours to complete a long run, it should be…85-90 F. by the time we finish the run. Maybe it will rain every Saturday morning and we will stay cool? One can always hope!
Looking forward to this marathon training! Excited and terrified! Looking forward to the race itself! Excited and terrified! I am already having “race dreams”, dreams where I finish the race three minutes after they close the course. Dreams of forgetting to pack my running shoes so I have no shoes in which to run the race, dreams of getting lost on the course….you get the general idea.
So, for the next 18 weeks of training, I will be a basket case. But what a great way to go~training my heart out, fretting and stewing and having the time of my life! Cannot wait!!!
