Running at 5,000 ft

Today’s Run:  7.00 miles

We are visiting our daughter in Colorado this week.  We arrived in Colorado last evening.  We went on our first run in Colorado this morning.  We are in a Denver suburb for the week at about 5,000 ft elevation.

It was breezy this morning.  The wind was from the NW at 10 mph.  Between elevation and the wind and the hills…it was an awesome run!!!  After spending two days in the car, driving from Mississippi to Colorado, hitting the road was a very welcome thing.

The air is thinner here than in Mississippi.  It seems like you need more of it here to be able to breath while running.  We took water with us on the run and that was a very good thing.  It was most welcome.

We saw three snakes.  Two deceased and one very much alive.  The two were a little flat from car tires, the one, well we were very happy to see it slither in the opposite direction!

Our daughter laughed at us.  Still is for that matter.  She is not a runner but is trying to get the time off from work to go with us to Maine for our marathon in October.  Purely as a spectator.

Running at altitude was demanding but we rose to the challenge.
