Black and White Perfume

Today’s Run: Three hours mowing.

Black and White perfume.  Not sold in any retail store.  Most often found in rural areas~especially in the early morning hours when we are out on our run.

What is it???  Pepe’ La Pew.  Skunk air freshener.  Due to it’s unique fragrance, we elect to call it Black and White Perfume.

My husband and I startled a skunk a week ago during our early morning run.  We were fortunate.  He/She waddled away at skunk tip-top speed…tail held high.  We literally held our breath.  But, luck was on our side that morning and we proceeded with caution.  No skunk de la pew that time.

We often encounter the remnants of a skunk encounter on our runs.  There is a lot of wild life where we live and they are always getting in the way of our little striped friends.  Skunks are not often road remnants.  That is a good thing.  I always feel bad for them when that happens.

We are concerned about our bee hives because skunks really like the bees~not the honey~the bees themselves.  So, when we open the door in the mornings and smell that distinctive aroma, we check on the bees. The skunks will leave all your bees dead at the entrance of the hive.  I think they…well, it is gross, so we will just leave that alone.

So, anyway, Black and White Perfume.  It is the scent of country living at times.  As long as you step carefully, you should not end up wearing it!
