Build an Ark…Rain is coming!

We have been getting a TON of rain this Spring.  It has not been unusual for us to get between 2-3″ of rain each week.  So, I took matters into my own hands today and bought my husband a boat!

The real reason I bought a boat is because my 25 year old daughter has a bee in her bonnet…she feels that my husband and son needed to go on a fishing trip before we began training for our October marathon.  We looked into boat rentals but alas, no-one around here rents.  You must purchase.  Rats.

Enter Craigslist.

Lots of people are selling boats on Craigslist.  Boats that need rivets, many boats that leak…boats that should not be called boats.  Since we were sending two of my most favorite people in the world off on a fishing adventure, we needed a “sea worthy vessel”.  And that is what we got.

Now, this boat is not pretty.  It has been “loved”.  But it floats!  It does not leak! It is not missing any important parts.  It will serve our intended purpose.

We kept this a surprise during our detective work.  We kept it a surprise until we we on the road today to pick it up!  My poor husband even went to the ATM to withdraw money to pay for his surprise without even knowing what he was purchasing!   What a good sport.

And Boy, Was He Ever Surprised!!!  And pleased.  I would call this a success!!
