Today’s Run: Coca Cola Classic 10K (6.2 miles)
We ran the Coca Cola Classic 10K today.
We have a ritual/habit before any upcoming race to discuss the time we would like to “get” at that particular race. My husband and I talked about today’s race and decided that since we really had not trained for it (we actually had forgotten all about it until last week) that achieving 1:20 for the race would be an acceptable time~that was until I looked at my bib number for my last 10K and looked at the time from there. It was 1:21. Uh-oh.
How in the world could we improve on 1:21!?! There was not enough “wiggle room” to PR (personal record). We would have to flat out run for the 6.2 miles. No pacing. No enjoying the scenery. No interaction with the crowds and bands. Just run. Hard.
So, that is exactly what we did. We ran. Hard.
And we PR’d! Our time was 1:13. That is an eight minute PR!!! That is pretty doggone awesome in my book.
So, tonight we can rest the rest of a successful day and tomorrow enjoy the shiny new medals hanging on our medal rack.
