Today’s Run: Rest Day from being stung.
Mowing around bee hives is a dangerous occupation. Mowing around bee hives without protection is just plain stupid. And that is what I did yesterday and today I am paying.
We made splits in our Apiary a few weeks ago and the bees are still adjusting to their new homes. Some of them are having separation anxiety from their old hives~at least that is my theory. They are grouchy.
Normally, when I mow, there is a certain distance I can go without getting the bees all riled up. That has changed. I obviously cannot do that anymore. I must “suit up”.
I was mowing along, enjoying the warm Spring day when all off a sudden, Bzzz!!! All around me were very angry bees. I turned the mower around and made a break for it. But not fast enough I am afraid. I got stung three times by my right eye.
I am a sight this morning! My right eye is swollen shut, the right side of my face, the right side of my head and down my neck~all are swollen. I am not going to win any beauty pageants this week!
Fortunately, my husband is laughing with me not at me!
