These Are a Few of My Favorite Things…

Today’s run:  4.26 miles

My dog loves it when the Fed Ex/ UPS man comes.  That means there will be a leftover cardboard box!  Oh joy and rapture!  There is nothing that makes this dog more happy and sets his stump to wagging than a leftover cardboard box.  Think of all the ways there are to totally destroy a large piece of cardboard.

Today the Fed Ex man came and left a box at the door.  The dog could hardly stand it because he was so excited.  “Open the box!”.  You could almost hear him shouting it.  So, I opened the box and took out my new running shoes (yeah!) and gave him the box-but he had not considered that fact that there is a new resident of the house named Castro, who also loves cardboard boxes.  Oh oh.

The game was on and Castro made it into the box before Paxton could budge.  Paxton tried to pick up the box to rip it to shreds, like he usually does, but Castro had other plans and made a swing at the dog.  Puzzled, Paxton retreated to consider his options and decided on the direct approach and tried to get that cat out of his box!  It did not work.

They battled it out for about ten minutes, until the cat got bored and gave the box to the dog.  Then, and only then did Paxton get to rip that mean old box into itty bitty pieces.  This is where I come into the game. I get to pick up all those little pieces and put them into the trash.  What a fun game, huh?
