Today’s Run: 1 hr lifting at the “Y”

We took Kali, one of our two cats, to the emergency vet clinic last night.  She was not feeling very well.  She had refused to eat or drink for two days and was not using her kitty pan.  Now, before you read any further, NO, we did not have her put down.

The vet told us last night that she had kitty pneumonia, 105 temp. and that she was dehydrated.  She spent the night there and they ran a few tests this morning.  She did have the 105 temp. and was dehydrated, but she does not have kitty pneumonia!  She has kitty lupus!  Oh no!!!

Her body is attacking itself and her white blood cells are yellow with pus.  Yuck.  Poor Kali!  So, she is presently on antibiotics and Prednisone.  The prednisone may be a thing she has to do the rest of her kitty life.  The vet did say that some day this will be a life threatening illness but for right now we might be able to control it.  He is “Cautiously optimistic”.

Kali is a very sweet kitty and it is sad to see her so sick.  So it is truly a sad day indeed.
