Today’s Run: 8.02 miles
The running group this morning was picture perfect weather. It was 65F. Sunny skies. Light breeze from the South. Perfect!
The group was scheduled to run the “Chinese Restaurant” route. 11.9 miles. We have run this many times in the past and it is a very nice way to start off a weekend. We elected to turn around and only run eight miles because there is an awful lot of gravel and my knees are very unhappy. So, we ran to close to where the gravel begins and turned around and retraced our steps. It was a lovely run.
But by the time we returned to the house (where we all meet as a group) my knees and feet were killing me. They just flat out hurt!
I have been having issues with these running shoes ever since I got them. They were not cheap shoes either. I wore this pair when I ran the Mississippi Blues Half Marathon back in January and lost one toe nail at the twelve mile marker. Finished the rest of the race going “Ouch!”. I have lost four toenails with this particular pair of shoes and today was the final straw.
So~we drove to Tuscaloosa, Alabama (only a one hour drive from our house) to the Foot Locker. They have a pad you walk on that determines your foot strike and helps them place you in the shoes that fit your particular needs.
I switched from Asics Gel 2000 to Brooks Adrenaline GTS13. I am hoping that I will have happy knees come time to run on Monday and that I will be able to do the *Happy Dance* when the run is successfully completed!!! Can hardly wait!
