Today’s Run: Rest Day
In past blogs we have discussed chicken tractors and chickens. I thought that today we would just have a pictorial anthology of what we now have at our house~that way you can actually see the finished project (if you have been following along).
This is the chicken tractor. It is 4′ X 8′ and is completely enclosed except for the bottom, which rests on the ground.
The top part is the roosting area with the nesting box is off to the left. There is access to the nesting boxes by lifting the lid on the top left side. The entire top side is a hinged door that opens so you can clean and also reach eggs that someone may have laid someplace other than in the assigned nesting box.
On either side, on the bottom level, is a box. The right hand side is the water trough (shown here) and the other side is covered and contains the feed trough.
The run is enclosed and the chickens have shelter from the elements here and also protection from predators.
Also, on the front of the tractor is the “handle” which you use to “pull” the tractor and relocate it on the property.
Pretty Cool Beans, huh???
