Bow-Wow-Wow!!!

Paxton takes his job as protector of the house seriously.  He is ever vigilant.  Ever faithful.  Always on guard.

One thing he is not is obedient.  At least not immediately.

Take today, for instance.

#1 Son purchased a new (used) car.  He drove it home and parked it in our driveway.  I immediately went out to look at it~make all the appropriate Oooh’s and Ahhh’s. (it is a nice car, btw)  Paxton noticed a different car in the driveway.

A new car in the drive triggers an immediate barking reflex in Paxton.

Bow-Wow-Wow!!!  Said Paxton.  He had to tell me about the new car, too.

#1 Son was busy taking paperwork and all out of the car.  I opened the front door.  Paxton seized the opportunity and made a mad dash for the offending car.

Fortunately for #1 Son, Paxton recognized him for who he was, so Paxton busied himself sniffing around the offending vehicle.

Seeing as the weather is cold and drizzly today in Mississippi, #1 Son and I didn’t spend mass quantities of time admiring the car.  We high tailed it into the house as soon as we could.

Paxton decided to dawdle.

I stood at the front door calling…”Paxton!  Come on, boy!”

No Paxton.

“Paxton!!!  Here, Paxton!”

Nope.

“Paxton!  Come here you dumb dog!”

Out of desperation, I hit the doorbell.

Paxton heard the doorbell!  Duty calls!!!

He headed for the door lickity split!

He ran into the house, barking all the way.

Then he stopped at the front door, turned around and proceeded to bark at whoever had dared ring his doorbell.
