Intel Nuc

[Today’s run: 3.2 miles]

A couple of weeks ago some college guy over in Starkville advertised an Intel Nuc headless computer module for sale on Facebook Market place for a good price. It didn’t come with a bootable operating system so I bought a 1 TB SSD from Amazon ($55!) and installed Ubuntu on it.

I’ve been needing something better than my ancient laptop to do radio station audio editing. My thought is I could park the Nuc on the radio station network and use my normal laptop from my desk here and do audio selection editing.

For the old laptop I have to boot from an external drive and use a plugin network adaptor and a headset. I have to move the files down from the playback server using FTP, then do the level setting and stuff against the local copy of the files. It is tedious.

I don’t know if I will get it all sorted out. But it was cheap for an 8th gen i5 processor with lots of connectivity and more ram than my normal laptop.
