[Today’s run: 5k]
I ran in the United Way 5k in Starkville today. I think I did pretty well, 30:29 puts me 3 seconds slower than my most recent 5k, November of last year. If I had not stopped for a sip of water at the water station, maybe I would have been just a few seconds quicker. They had about 50 people participate, a lot were walkers. I came in 15th, and 2nd in my age group (but they didn’t give age group prizes).
After I got home I had the thought that I should have asked Marta Freitas to sign my running bib/number. She was a runner for Mississippi State, national champ in 2016 at 1500 meters, and represented Portugal at the Olympics last summer. She didn’t run the 5k but helped with the awards ceremony and other things.
