Mid-size mammal day

[Today’s run: Watson Road 3.5 miles]

Had a nice run this morning.  The biting flies are starting to make their appearance so I took along a bandanna and used it as a swatter.

I was tooling along nicely then looked in a pasture area off the road to the right and there was a skunk about 30 feet away.  He had a cute little triangular black head and a big fluffy tail.  He didn’t look distressed (or rabid) so I just kept going and he did his thing.

Then about a quarter mile later on, near a curve and in an area where trees grow up shading the road, another skunk crossed the road about 30 feet ahead of me and went down into the ditch.  Same day different skunk.

And then a hundred yards farther on I saw a raccoon rumble across the road.  Raccoons have a unique gait, so I could tell what it was.

Two skunks and one raccoon in one day.  And various biting flies.   Pretty good wildlife total for one morning.
