Scanner again

[Today’s run: rest]

I’m just goofing around toward the end of the day. I’ve got the scanner on, listening to a net on 145.430 Mhz. I believe the repeater is in Vernon, AL, but the net is being run out of Tuscaloosa. I think they have a linked repeater system but I’m not sure how that works.

I think the net controller is calling it the “Alabama Emergency Net”. Having found a list of nets in Alabama, I think it may be the “West Alabama Emergency Net” which starts on Sunday evening at 8:30 pm. That would be about right.

I’ve been listening to the scanner often since I got it programmed up a week ago. I have heard quite a bit of local public service (police/fire/utilities/etc) traffic and some air traffic stuff. And there is some ham activity too. I hope they will be able to get the local Columbus repeater going again soon.
