Tower base hole

[Today’s run: rest day]

I finished up the tower base hole today, concrete is to be delivered tomorrow morning.

I am going with the pier-pin base method which makes the concrete work a bit simpler.  All I end up with is a big block of concrete with a pin sticking out of it.  When the tower goes up the base fits over the pin.   A lot of people bury part of a tower section, and I did that on my first tower.  But for this one I wanted to try the pin method.

Hole is ready, rebar cage is on concrete blocks in the hole.

In the morning I will make sure the form is level one last time, and use the shop vac to get any water out of my guy anchor holes.  For guy anchors I am using sections of 4″ steel pipe with 48″ buried and about 8″ above the ground.  I will pack the center of each pipe with concrete up to within a few inches of the top where I will install an eye bolt.
