Run, Forrest, Run!

Today’s Run:  12.22 miles

Today, we got up early (3:00 a.m.), had breakfast and then went to Boardtown Runners, the running group we meet with on Saturday mornings for our long runs.  We were there long enough to say “Hi!” and then went out and ran for the next 2:45 and covered 12.22 miles.  We are very slow (but steady!).  After that we got back to the meeting house and collapsed for 20 minutes or so before we ran errands.  You know, I am tired.

Why in heaven’s name would we run that far on a Saturday morning?  And that early, too!?!  Good question.  Wish I could give you an intelligent answer, but alas, no can do.  We’re nuts, I guess.

Actually, we have another Half Marathon coming up in a few weeks.  It is on January 5, 2013~The Mississippi Blues Full and Half Marathon.  We are running the Half and you can Google it if you like.  They have a nice web page.  It is supposed to be a difficult/challenging route and I am already having “race dreams”.  You know, I forgot to take my running shoes…cannot find the starting line…was late to the start of the race…The list goes on and on…

We did have a cheering section on today’s run.  We passed cattle and horses.  Horses, as a rule, are not all that interested in you as you pass but the cows!  Holy Cow (pun intended)!  They run along with you along the fence and “Moo” at you~I like to think they are encouraging me~one can always count on a cow to talk to you and follow you.

We did see a friendly horse today before we got to the cows.  It was all decked out in a fancy blanket, which from a distance looked polka-dotted but up close had a nice pattern to it.  The horse stood still and posed so we could take it’s photograph.  Very thoughtful, do not you think?
