Popcorn

Today’s Run:  4.70 miles

My daughter has a nine foot Blue Spruce Christmas tree this year.  Seeing as her ceiling height is 14 foot, this is a nice sized tree.  But how do you decorate a tree that is 9′ tall and bigger around that you yourself are tall?

Presently, my daughter is waiting for tree lights to arrive from her roommates mother.  Everyday she waits for the UPS/Fed-Ex/Postman to come and bring her her lights.  But the delivery has yet to arrive.  Today, she took matters into her own hands.

Enter popcorn.

When my daughter was a little girl, she was a huge Little House on the Prairie fan.  She read every one of those books over and over and over.  One thing they did in those books was to string popcorn and hang it on the tree for decoration.  That is what was decided needed to be done today.

Finding the popcorn was a challenge but was accomplished only to discover that a mouse had been nibbling through the bag, that meant no snacking as we did our arts and crafts project.  Next we popped the popcorn (burnt the first batch) then proceeded to string it on needle and thread.

Stinging popcorn is not as easy as it sounds!  The popcorn breaks easily and I soon discovered that I am not very adept at this without bloodshed.  I kept poking my fingers with the needle and then bleeding all over myself.

We finally finished two strands and declared it a job complete.  Not necessarily a job successfully completed, just a job complete.
