Today’s Run: 3.40 miles
Today was a recovery run. After Saturday’s long run and yesterday sitting all day, we needed a nice, easy run to recover from the weekend.
We decided to take a road trip to Meridian, Mississippi. Why Meridian? Well, because they posted the map online for the half marathon we will be running in a few weeks and I wanted to familiarize myself with the route.
Oh boy. Holy cow!!! Hills upon hills. Some little hills but mostly big, long hills. Oh no! Hills are my arch nemesis. BUT~we have two weeks to practice on hills, so all is not lost. We proved to ourselves on Saturday that we are good for the distance so all we need to do now is throw in some intense hill work and come Nov. 3~we do it. I figure it will take about four hours of continuous running. No problem!?!?
The big concern of both my husband and myself is the traffic. Almost half of the race is on four lane highway. They are really going to have to be “johnny-on-the-spot” with traffic control or they could have some mushed runners on their hands. But I am sure that they are already aware of that and that it is well under control. I will just focus on hill work and let them worry about things like traffic control and how many port-a-potty’s to have along the route.
