Today’s Run: 5.07 miles (Schaeffer’s Chapel)
Well, now I have gone off a done it. I had to know. My husband and I have been training for a half marathon for a while now, actually we are at the halfway mark through our training schedule for the race and I had to know it there were going to be hills. Had to know! It was going to determine how we trained for the last half (train for hills or just flat terrain).
I popped off an email to the race coordinator this morning:
Greetings!
My husband and I are halfway through our training schedule for your half marathon and are looking forward to the race. We went to your site this morning and copied the map for the half (marathon) route…we did have a question. Is this like the Vicksburg “Run Thru History” with the killer hills or a flat race? We would be greatly relieved to find out that it is a flat course but if it is not, then the course of our training needs to change a bit! Thanks for your reply!
Just a few short hours later he answered:
“I wish I could tell you it’s flat, but you wouldn’t like me half way through the run. Really it’s not too bad. Most of it is fairly flat. Just a couple of places with an ugly hill or two…” YIKES!
Well, they say that ignorance is bliss but in this case I think it is better to know. We can easily train for hills. Easily in that we can find hills to run. Easily in that it will not be much fun to train on those hills.
I just had to know and now I do…
