Set In Concrete

Today’s Run:  Rest Day?

Today, being Sunday, we did not run or go to the “Y”.  We went to church and enjoyed fellowship and Bible preaching. It was a good beginning to the day.  We then went to Sonic where I got my absolute favorite Foot Long Chili Cheese Dog with onions and jalapenos!  Yummyiness!

We decided this afternoon to build a footing for our new arbor.  That meant that we had to chop through the concrete slab before we could pour more concrete!  More Concrete!  MORE CONCRETE!  The guys (my husband and son) did the sawing, chipping and pounding to get the chunk of concrete out of the patio slab (I helped a little with a cool chisel I got at Lowe’s) and then it was time to pour fresh concrete into the tube concrete form.

Did you know that mixing concrete is hot/hard work?  Wow!  I mixed eight, 80 pound bags of concrete in a wheel barrow. The guys shoveled it into the tube concrete form and made it pretty.  After about an hour of mixing I started not to feel very well.  It was 100 degrees at our house and we were in the sun and working hard so I pooped out early and the guys had to clean up.

So, now I am resting and telling you about it.  I am going to stop and grab a bite to eat and put my feet up for the rest of the day.
