At the Chicago Marathon Expo in 2014, MFH (My Favorite Husband) surprised me by purchasing a new Garmin Fenix2 for me. I was floored! At that time I was training with a 310XT. It was a good Garmin and wasn’t giving me trouble. My running goals were expanding into Ultra Running and I would be needing more battery life than what the 310XT offered. That is why he bought me the Fenix2. Super long battery life.
I was a happy, happy girl!
Still am, actually!
This past February, I added a Footpod to the Garmin ensemble. Now I was running with my Fenix2 and a Footpod. Why? Well, I was training and planning on running that 50M trail race in March. I had run the 50K there the year before and had lost satellite even when using the trail function on the Fenix2. I didn’t want to try for 50 miles running blind. That didn’t sound like my idea of fun. Hence, the Footpod to aid in knowing my pace and distance in the woods.
This past week, my running stats have been….off.
If you run consistently, you know the exact distance from your front door any direction to any place. My Fenix2 was off. Let’s just leave it at that. Plus, my pace had dropped almost 2 min per mile. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
Anyway, after a few phone calls, a lot of button pushing on my Fenix2 and a trial 2 miler this afternoon, I think all’s well? Fingers crossed anyway!
A week from tomorrow is Grandma’s Marathon! I’m really looking forward to this race!
A friend who will be running Grandma’s as well lives up in that area and was making a trip into Duluth today. She made a stop at a Toyota dealership. See, the Toyota dealership had taken one of their vehicles and had the names of everybody running the race next weekend printed on that car! She found her name and took a pic. Then she took the time to find my name too! She took a pic of my name and posted it to FB.
How much fun is that!?!
A year ago today, I took my niece, two nephews, #1 Daughter and #1 Daughter’s #1 Fiance to a water park in Starkville, Mississippi. We had so much fun!!! The pic, though, make me groan. Classic #runnersproblems: When your running shorts tan line and swimsuit don’t meet.
This pic is how I earned my hashtag: #cottontail
That’s all the Mississippi news. Happy Weekend and Happy Running!!!
