I’m not going to dwell a lot on “Great People.” I think I’ll probably end up popping around here and there today. I needed a blog title and this is what we settled on.
One week ago today, MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I made our marathon trip back to the States. What a trip that was! We were up waaaayyy more than 24 hours before we were finally able to sleep in the comforts of our own bed.
It’s great to be home. 🙂
When I mentioned great people, I was referring to the people in my neighborhood.
I know in the past I’ve referenced the area in which I live. Pretty much everybody in a 10 Mile radium of where I live has a pretty good idea of my racing schedule and depending on where they pass me on the roads, they know what route I’m taking for that day’s run. Funny that.
Since our arrival midnight Wednesday (Or Thursday early morning. Take your pick), three times now I’ve had people stop their vehicle in the middle of the road and ask about Berlin.
Isn’t that the sweetest!?!
One was a lady who goes to our church. She lives about a mile away from us.
The other was our neighbor to the west. He owns his own trucking business. He stopped his truck smack dab in the middle of the road to ask about the trip. He told me later that he thought about me on race day and prayed for me. What a nice guy!
Today it was the trash collectors! Yup! That big ol’ garbage truck came to a screeching halt and the “guys” asked about the race and welcomed me home.
I love where I live!!! Everybody looks out for everybody. For the most part, we generally care, too!
That’s what I meant by “Great People.” 🙂
I think we’re settling back into “normal” life again. It’s very, very nice to be home. We had the time of our lives in Germany. It was the trip of our dreams! Soooo glad we went. I don’t think there is any way anyone or anything could top that trip.
Now we’re home. Time to take another look at racing plans for 2016. We’re making some changes.
I’m a Race Ambassador for the Mississippi Blues Marathon. http://www.msbluesmarathon.com/ That is THE race to run in Mississippi. It doesn’t get any better than the Blues. It is an honor to be an Ambassador for this event. (*BTW: If you’re thinking about running the Blues, I have a $10 discount code for registration: MHMBM19 Feel free to use it and/or pass it around to friends! ) So, on January 9, 2016, I’ll be running the full at the Blues in Jackson, Mississippi. *#1 Son will be running the Half Marathon at the Blues as well. This will be his first Half Marathon! Gooooo!!!!!
I am registered for the Surf City Marathon in Huntington Beach, California, for February 7, 2016. http://www.runsurfcity.com/challenge-programs/beach-cities-challenge/. Last night MFH and I had a chat about this event. Today, I bowed out of this race. I’ve paid my registration, so I’ll eat that expense but airfare and all…it’s just too much right now. So my February is race free.
March 5, 2016, I’ll be racing at the MS50 Trail Run in Laurel, Mississippi. http://www.ms50.com/. I’ll be running the 50 Mile in 2016. This year, I ran the 50K segment of this race. Super. Fun. Event. Now that I’m familiar with the course, I’m going back to run the 50 Mile! Excited about this one!
April Fools Day weekend, I’ll be driving (with a Mississippi running friend) to Austin, Texas. They have a super 10 Mile race called the Austin 10/20 http://www.austin1020.com/. I’m really looking forward to this race. I will get to stay with a FB friend. We chat a lot online but have never met her IRL. This is going to be fun!
May. Right now my sister wants to go to Corinth, Mississippi, for the Coke 10K. This will be the third year in a row we’ve gone up north for this race. Registration isn’t open quite yet….
June. In June I’ll be heading to Duluth, Minnesota, for Grandma’s Marathon! http://grandmasmarathon.com/ I’ll be traveling again with my Mississippi running friend. We’re planning on going into Canada a bit, making a proper little trip out of this…and running a tiny race. 😉 Lots of fun!
That’s it until fall. I’ll be putting my name in the hat again (AGAIN!) for the New York City Marathon. This will be my third attempt at trying to get into this race. It is soooo hard to get into NYC! I’ll just keep on trying until some year I get lucky!
All of that to say, I’m shopping for a fall marathon. HA!
That is my racing schedule as it stands for 2016. I think it’s comfortably full, don’t you?
Crossed the 1800 mile mark for this calendar year today. My Year to date total stands at 1809.32 miles. Less than 200 miles to reach 2015 in 2015. Keep those fingers crossed!!!
Aiden is rocking the Michigan colors in today’s pic. He’s doing very well! Goooo Aiden!!!
