Antique Radios

Today’s Run:  Rest Day!

I love antique radios.  The older the radio the better.  I collect antique radios and have many but today I added to my collection and the best part of this was I did not have to pay for this one~it was a gift!  Cool Beans!!!

Most of my radios are from the late 1940’s and 1950’s. However, I do have a 1925 TRF Airline Radio (coffin style), a 1927 RCA radio (coffin style) and today I received a 1930 AtwaterKent, Model 70, console radio!  It is awesome!  As with all my old radios it needs a little TLC but that is part of it’s allure. This one needs a new grille cloth and new tubes.  Both of these projects are not difficult.  Grille cloth is easily found on-line and all the tube sockets are labeled.  No guesswork.  Piece of cake.  No problem.  Excellent project for my husband?

In all actuality, this will be a wait until Winter project because our Summer is packed and going through cardboard boxes filled with musty old tubes is hot work.  I can hardly wait!

So rejoice with me and remember, “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure”.
