I really do! This is a buddy that will be with me no matter when I run or how far I run or how fast/slow I run!
About 6 months ago, I signed up with an organization called IRun4. This organization matches you with a disabled child and you run/dedicate your miles for this person. They have a FB page and you post your miles, snap a few pics along your run and send greetings on the page to your running buddy. It’s really a pretty cool organization!
So, I’ve been waiting for 6 very long months to be matched with my new running buddy.
Two weeks ago, I received the email that I would be getting matched very soon. Ever since I received that email, I have been stalking my email waiting for my match! Finally, last night, while MFH (My Favorite Husband) were out at the Chamber of Commerce doo-dah, my email arrived.
I’m so excited!!!
I Run For Aiden!
He’s 3.5 years old and has faced a great deal medically in those 3.5 years than most of us will ever face in our entire lifetime. He has a great smile and parents that love him. He has a lot if he has that! I won’t share all his medical stuff….
He is a sweetie and I am thrilled to be able to run for him.
I’ve contacted the Race Directors for my upcoming races (including tomorrow’s) in an attempt to get an additional finishers medal to send to him. If I can’t get an extra medal, I’ll just send off mine. I plan to send him little things in the mail every now and then. It’s always nice to get stuff via the mail besides bills!
Here’s today’s post:
Aiden: We are resting today because we have a race tomorrow! Exciting stuff!!! I found some pics from my run on Wednesday and thought you might like to see them. I ran with a turtle for just a little bit. I had to run hard to keep ahead of him. Haha! The other two animal pics are of some naughty donkeys. They usually hide in the woods and try to startle me with a loud “Hee-haw!” as I run past them. It usually works, too! Wednesday, though, they came out to say “Hi!” and one wanted its nose rubbed. The other pic is of my handsome running buddy! You!!! I’ll be running 13.1 miles for you at 7:00 in the morning. Don’t worry, I’ll let you sleep in and I’ll tell you about it when you wake up. Have a super Friday, Aiden!!!
