For a little while now, I have been having some trouble with my vision. Not a big deal but I knew that something was off.
Two and a half years ago, I had cataract surgery on both of my eyes. That was the best. thing. ever.
For the longest time, my vision was bad enough that I could not legally drive so MFH (My Favorite Husband) drove me to all my appointments. I really enjoyed the time we spent on the road going all over the place. Since the surgery, we still go everywhere together! I like that! 🙂
Four months post surgery, however, I found out that I had, (for lack of technical terminology), “Goobers” growing over the newly implanted lenses in my eyes. This required laser surgery to blast that stuff off the lenses. I had that done and all was well.
Today, I found out that those nasty “Goobers” have grown back. In two weeks, February 17th, I will have that laser surgery again. Woo-Hoo, huh?
Let’s backtrack to the beginning of the day.
I had decided to do a little math. I have a couple of big races looming. This is what I discovered. 11 days until the Mississippi River Marathon and 31 days until the Mississippi 50 Trail run. A marathon and a 50K all within a month. Yes! Let’s Do This!!!
I posted to social media about this and then, since I procrastinate, I decided to open my email. My email, as a rule is pretty dull stuff. However, I had one pretty exciting email!
“It’s with great pleasure to welcome you into the Honey Stinger Hive for 2015.”
I had totally forgotten that I had applied for sponsorship with Honey Stinger! I’ve tried a few places to be sponsored. I know that the people running those places look at how old I am (Old for a sponsored athlete) and then laugh themselves silly when they see how fast I do (or don’t) run. Speedy I am not but I am tenacious as they get!
Honey Stinger is a fueling product for endurance training/events. Good stuff.
So, Yes! I am a sponsored athlete!!! Funny that!
It’s not a fancy sponsorship by any means. It’s primarily some pretty sweet discounts. Hey, I’ll take what I can get!
I’ll wear a Honey Stinger visor when I run and start using a hashtag when I post my running stuff to social media. #HSHIVE
Cool Beans!!!
