1975 and the Principal’s Office

Waaaay back in the fall of 1975 I was entering 8th grade.  It was the very first day of 8th grade and I was sitting in homeroom.  Our homeroom teacher was doing the “first day of the school year” rigmarole.

The next thing I knew, I was trudging down the school hallway to the Principal’s office.  I wasn’t by myself, I was walking with this guy.  We were in the same homeroom and were heading down the hallway for the exact same reason.

NO.  I wasn’t in trouble.  Neither was he.

The school office had messed up and had not put our milk passes in the homeroom packet.  We had been sent to go get our passes.

That is how I met MFH (My Favorite Husband).

We have been together pretty much ever since, too!

Sure, we have dated other people but for some reason, we have always gravitated back to each other.  I guess that’s what true friends do.  Stick together.

30 years ago today, MFH asked me to marry him.

It’s pretty funny, really.  We had been through a pretty major break up.  I had seen him in church the day after Christmas.  While we were singing a song, I left my pew and walked across the church and went over to him.  During the singing I said, “We need to talk.”

After the service, we went to McD’s and I ate crow (It was my fault after all.  Really!!!).

We went out the next day.  And the next day.  The day after that.  The following day, we were sitting on the ugliest orange floral sofa, watching Maverick reruns.  During the commercial, he looked at me and said, “Well, I suppose we should get married.”  I replied, “Yup.  You’re right.”

And that was that.

We were engaged.

We were married 5 months later.  May 24, 1985.

MFH is the best of the best!

To the office person who messed up our milk passes~~~Thank you!!!
