MFH and I have had a terrific trip in Chicago so far! We have gone to the Expo~that was terrific!
At the Expo, I met my running “hero,” Hal Higdon. As far as I am concerned, HH is a running god. This man’s programs have led me through the training for every single race (aside from C25K) that I have ever run. I have followed his programs to. the. letter. He has not let me down.
I was so excited to meet him. I was like a little HH groupie! It’s so embarrassing, I bought one of his books and he autographed it for me. I also had my pic taken with him. Oh well…someday, I’ll get over making a ninny of myself. Until then….
MFH (My Favorite Husband) surprised me by buying me a new Garmin! That was unexpected! I am going to try it out today. Sure hope I know how to work it when the race starts! HA!
I slept very well last night (it is early o’clock right now). If I had not set an alarm, I very well might have slept through the start of the race! I am very tired. The two nights before we left to come here, I did not sleep well at all. Too excited about the trip. Now, I am pooped. But, race day is here! No rest for the weary. Time to go out and do my thing.
So, now, I am ready and waiting. I have had my race day ritual of half a waffle and one cup of coffee. I am waiting for it to …pass but I don’t think that is going to happen. Boo. Immodium will be my friend this morning.
MFH and I will walk to the start and get there around 6:30 am. They open Grant Park at 5:30 for the runners. You have to go through security and all of that nonsense. MFH will not be allowed into Grant Park. Runners only. I will miss getting to do my pre-race nervous chatter with him. I pity the poor person that I pick out of the blue to talk to. HA!
So, the waiting game is here. Just a few more hours and it’ll be time to pound the pavement.
Yikes!
