This week is a “fall back week” in my training program for the Chicago Marathon. This is the first real “Break” I’ve had since running the 50K three weeks ago.
It is my theory that the people who develop these training programs really do not have the best interest of the runner in mind. It is the HOUSE of the runner of which they are thinking.
See, most days I get up in the morning, make breakfast for everybody, get a load of laundry started and then head on out the door for my run. My run is usually a minimum of 1.50 hours. Usually. When I come home, that load of laundry is still sitting in the washer because nobody has taken the initiative to put it into the dryer, so that is the first thing I do so the clothes won’t sour.
After that, I make lunch because everybody in the house is hungry and have been waiting for me to fix them something to eat. After cooking a meal, I will quickly tidy up the kitchen a little bit and start the dishwasher. After all that has been done, I get to take a shower and make myself presentable for the remainder of the day.
Another load of laundry (running clothes ~ P.U.).
Usually, after that, I have a little bit of time for some online playing (FB and MFP). That is always fun and relaxing. By then, it is time to make dinner! Then I clean up the kitchen again….you begin to see what I am talking about. My house suffers in a big way! It is a mess!!!
So, my theory is that these “Fall Back Weeks” are for the express purpose of house cleaning! Obviously I have not been putting much effort into doing any deep cleaning and it shows!
Today, I have been a busy beaver. My house is sparkly! I am content 🙂
But, what does all of this have to do with unexpected company???
Today, no matter which direction I have been looking outdoors, whether it be a window or a door, East or West, North or South, I have seen Butterflies! I think they have been stalking me! HA!
Seriously, though, we have had a lot of butterflies all around the house today. And not all the same kind, either!
How much fun it has been to see them on the window screens peeking in to check my progress. Some of them have been on the sidewalk right outside the doors. Others have been fluttering around…just having a great time being a butterfly!
For some reason, that has just made my day! 🙂
