Coca Cola Classic 10K

Today’s Run: 4.30 miles

Today was our last run before this Saturday’s race.  We have been doing a very small “taper” before the race so we are fresh to run our best.  We will take Friday off from running.  We will sit in the car.

Friday is going to be a busy day~well, Saturday is too, for that matter.  We have to take the dog to be boarded on Friday morning.  He loves going and playing with Reggie.  Reggie owns the boarding place and Paxton worships him.

After we take Paxton over to Reggie’s place, we take off for Corinth, Mississippi.  That is where the race will be held.  Corinth is about a three hour drive north of where we live and very close to the Tennessee boarder.

We are not going to “hotel it” in Corinth, however.  Every man and his dog will be staying there.  We are going into Tennessee about 20 miles North of Corinth.  There is a Civil War Interpretive Center there that we would like to visit.  So, we will play tourist on Friday, run on Saturday and then come home.

We are very fortunate that our son, Tom, lives in Mississippi now, too.  He is our official house watcher.  He will stay overnight at the house to take care of the cats and the chickens!  He is a good sport, that Tom!

They have had to cap this race at 1,500 runners.  This is the largest turn out in the history of this race~35 years, or something like that.  It is supposed to be the best small race (short distance~6.2 miles) in the SE United States.

Wish us luck!!!
