#DragonWhisperer

Yesterday was a picture perfect morning for some miles.  Lucky for me, it was my long run day! I mixed up some #TailwindNutrition, put on some #ChafeX *in strategic places, laced up a brand new, straight out of the box, pair of #AltraRunning and bounded out the door.

I had three hours of running  I wanted to get done as training for the London Marathon….which is only a month away!

The sun was shining~it was such a pretty, pretty day!  My feet felt as light as a feather.  The miles passed easily with my shadow keeping me company.

Whenever I have a long run with my shadow, I try to recite that old Robert Louis Stevenson poem:  My Shadow…  I never make it all the way through the poem before I get distracted so I start over from the beginning and try again.  People ask me what I think about when I’m running?  Some of the time, if it’s a sunny day, I’m trying over and over and over to recite that poem.

The Wisteria is still in bloom.  I love Wisteria!  It smells like running through a candy shop because it has such a sweet scent, plus it’s super pretty!!!

I’d been running 2-ish hours and had covered 11 miles. I only had an hour left to run and I really wanted to hit 16 miles so I decided to head over towards HWY 45S.  I have a nice and flat one mile loop there that I can run easily. If the traffic is heavy, I can get off quick, too.

I was heading back towards Robinson Road to get off the highway (because traffic was pretty bad yesterday) when out of the corner of my eye, I spotted the dragon.

The dragon has been here ever since MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I have lived here.  It used to be next to a road that was usually only used on Sunday mornings when people drove to a little Chapel up the way for services.  A few years back, they built a new road because that little road was worn out.

*Since they built the new road, only a farmer uses the old road so it doesn’t see any traffic unless the cattle are being fed.*

The dragon used to be well maintained.  Somebody would mow around the dragon.  Kept its paint fresh.  It was a spiffy looking dragon!  This time of year, around Easter time, it was always fun to see the dragon because it would be sporting an Easter bonnet and have some plastic Easter eggs and its feet.  How much fun, right?

When I saw the dragon yesterday, it hadn’t seen any love for quite a while.  It was great to see my old friend again, though!  I wish I knew who was responsible for the upkeep of this thing because I’d be more than happy to spruce it up a bit!

I stopped to grab a pic of my old friend, the dragon, and then headed towards home.  By the time I got to my driveway, my Garmin would click of 16 miles and I’d be done for the day.

What a great run on a perfect Mississippi morning!

Happy Running, all!!!
