Reggie’s House

Paxton (my dog) loves going to “Reggie’s House.”

Reggie is the name of the man who owns the place where we board Paxton when we leave to go on trips.  The Doggie Hotel.

Last weekend, Paxton got to go and play at Reggie’s house.  Boy, was he ever excited!

They say that we should learn from our mistakes and this is one place where I have learned to keep secrets.  Secrets from my dog.

I used to pack a bag for Paxton the evening before we were to take him over to Reggie’s to play.  Paxton knows what his overnight bag looks like and he would get soooooo excited.  He would carry his bag around the house by the handles.  Next, he would unpack the bag to see what toys I was taking for his entertainment.  He would drag his leash around the house, almost bragging that he was going to go to Reggie’s house.

None of us would get any sleep that night because of Paxton’s excitement.

I quit packing the bag the night before.  I learned to keep secrets from my dog.

So, last Friday morning, very quickly, I gathered Paxton’s overnight things.  He has been on antibiotics for an infection on a cyst between his toes.  I packed his medication.  Then I packed the food I used to disguise the medication.  Then I packed ONE toy.  His traffic cone.  Lastly, I packed his cushion.  This was for bed time.

When I came out of our bedroom with the cushion, Paxton knew he was going to Reggie’s House.  Woo-Hoo!!!  It was a good day to be a dog!!!

He ran to the door so he could be the first one to the truck.

“Wait Paxton!!!  You forgot your leash!”

“Oh yea.” you could hear Paxton think.  And back he ran to have me put on his leash.  Then he ran back to the door so he could be first to the truck.

Silly dog.

“Paxton, we are taking the car this time.”

“OH BOY!!!  The CAR!?!  YIPPEE!!!” and off he ran for a different door.

Silly dog.

We managed to get Paxton to Reggie’s House without incident.  He didn’t even turn around to say good bye.

Silly dog.
