Grocery Store revisited

[Yesterday: 7 miles; today: 3.6 miles]

So, I was on the telephone with my parents today.  I usually try to call them on Sunday morning and catch up on all the stuff going on.

I mentioned that I had made a blog post about the grocery store on SE 30th street.  Mother said, “they had groceries in the front and furniture in the back.  And your Aunt Barb worked there for a little while as a checker I think.”

So there you have it.  If you want the straight stuff, just ask Mom!

I later thought it sounded kind of strange to have a combination furniture and grocery store…  then I remembered where I most recently went shopping (our’s is just a bit different… but you get the point):

Makes sense – don’t know why I didn’t think to ask her or Dad about that old store before.

With the new MLK extension coming out right at that spot on SE 30th, I wonder if there will be a gas station or something appear.

There’s an old one down in that area called Apex Oil. Not bright and shiny like a QT, and I’m not sure if they have much to sell inside, but if you just want gas it’s there.

You can go a long way on MLK between gas stations. If I recall correctly, there’s nothing between E 30th St and the QT on Hickman Rd. Someone will have to take advantage of that.
