[today’s run: 3.4 miles]
We have been running the classic books radio station in a test mode the last three weekends. And I have been developing a list of things that need to be polished up a bit.
First, I still have work to do in leveling up the volume of the various pieces. And I want to do some compression to bring the faint stuff up in volume. I haven’t decided if that should happen to the .wav file on the computer before it is played out or if I need to get a more advanced audio processing chain or exactly what.
I think we will probably continue with the weekend transmissions while I figure this out.
Then there will be a change in schedule as we start using some multi-chapter books in an hourly show format.
We still want to do streaming and need to add RDS. There is a lot yet to be done.

So, with all this activity actually on the air, are the government folks satisfied that you’re up and running or is there still a deadline to meet?
They are not completely satisfied. By July 2016 we need to be running at least a minimum number of hours on the air each week. I don’t think it has to be 24×7, but it has to be seriously on the air.
You could play a repeating melody – like communist countries would do on the shortwave years ago to hold the frequency or transmit secret messages or whatever… (I used to listen to SW at night before UInternet – tune in all the wacky talk shows, etc.)
