The silo

[Today’s Run: Silo Route 6 miles]

Here is the Silo for which the Silo Route is named. It sits at the side of a gravel road in the river bottoms area on the west bank of the Tombigbee River.

It is concrete, looks to be about 2 inches thick. The form marks show vertical formswork about six inches wide. There are steel rods around it; more at the bottom, less at the top. The holes going up the side, the lower ones have some stamped steel door fittings around them but the upper ones do not. It has vines growing on it but otherwise appears to be in pretty good shape. I have not tried to look inside.

Twenty feet tall? Eight feet in diameter? something in that neighborhood I would think.
