July 4th

[Yesterday 3.5 milees, today: rest]

We had a busy day yesterday.

Our plan was to have people over and try out the new patio for a cookout.  But when we were just about ready to sit down it started to rain.  And rain, and rain.  We ended up with just under three inches of rain.  It finally stopped raining about 4 in the afternoon.

We all seemed to survive ok indoors.  We had lots of food, and we talked and played games, etc.

Good to see the flag. In my neighborhood I saw only one (no, I did not have one) at a house that belongs to fist generation immigrants. I find immigrants (there are a lot out here!) love America more than just about anyone – maybe because it isn’t easy getting here and also the (positive) contrast of liberties and political system vs. the nation they came from…
