[Today’s run: 7.25 miles]
Last week I saw reference to an online quiz/interview thing called Triplebyte so I decided to give it a shot.
I did the quiz part and the thing reported that I did well. I’m skeptical. But, they wanted me to sign up for an interview time. So I have an interview coming up next Saturday at 9 am.
They give some description of the interview. Part of it is debugging a program. And they give a list of programming languages from which you can choose.
I’ve been using something called Perl for most of my projects in the last 20 years. Perl wasn’t on the list. I used to know ‘C’ pretty well. C wasn’t on the list either. I’ve done some C++ and some Java. C++ and Java were on there. But doing anything with them these days means I’d have to learn an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) which I don’t really want to take the time to do right now. Another Perl-like language was on the list called Python.
I’ve taken a half hearted run at Python a couple of times. It seemed like a waste of time since I didn’t want to expand the already long list of technologies I’m supposed to know for my job. But now I’ve been reading about Python for this interview. If I don’t get anything else out of it, maybe I can learn Python.
p.s.
I’m reading more on the Triplebyte website. It looks like they only do staffing of high-tech start-ups in The Bay.
