Travels

[Today’s run: about 3 miles]

On Tuesday evening we left from the house after work, got away before 6 pm, and drove until approximately 9:30 pm and stayed at a little motel in Dyersburg, TN.

On Wednesday we left there and drove west into MO, then crossed back into IL near Cairo and drove the whole length of IL south to north, a long trip.  We stopped for about an hour near Rockford to have dinner with one of the wife’s running buddies at a truck stop.  We eventually made it up to the Madison, WI area.  We stayed in a newer motel in Mt. Horeb, WI.

This morning I went for about a 45 minute jog around the neighborhood of the motel.  Then we drove from Mt. Horeb up to Superior, WI.

The whole trip was about 1150 miles. The driving has been nice.  The newer car we just got is running well and the seats are more comfortable than the Accord we traded in.  No more complaints from the passenger side.  It doesn’t do quite so well in gas mileage, probably because it is a 6-cyl instead of a 4-cyl.  But it still gets about 30 MPG on the highway.

We arrived in good time to go to the packet pick-up and to the race expo where we shopped around a bit and even bought a couple of things.  Then we had a very nice dinner at a fancy Italian restaurant.  And then we drove around Duluth a bit.

Our #1 son is manning the home front and taking care of the animals.
