[Today’s run: nothing yet]
I was able to find a nice little screwdriver at Home Depot and some heat sink thermal compound at Radio Shack.
So I spent the evening ripping the laptop apart. I put the thermal sauce in between the CPU and the heat sink (cleaned out the old stuff first). I got it all back together and it appeared to work again.
I worked on trying to get updates applied. The laptop just doesn’t have quite enough memory. I found also that the wallpaper, of all things, seemed to be using resources, so I changed that.
I was still wrestling with it this morning.. and then it did the shutdown thing again. Grr.
