Developments on the radio station

[Saturday: 6 miles; Sunday 0; Monday 0]

We had some nice developments recently with the radio station.  Another small local station sold us a bare-bones transmitter late last week.  We also received a contribution from a local business.

Over the weekend I worked on building a rolling rack to hold the growing group of rack-mount devices for the station.  I have the transmitter, the Gentner phone interface box and the M-Audio Delta 1010 sound card system.  I need to acquire a limiter of some sort also.

I was missing a power supply for the Delta 1010, so I have ordered that. When it arrives, I should be able to get the automation computer hooked up to the transmitter and try  it all into a dummy load.

I also have a list of people I need to contact about supporting our station.  We still need one big-ticket item, the EAS-CAP box (emergency broadcast unit).  So I am still looking for funds.  If by chance we are able to get the funding to buy the more expensive transmitter, I’d still like to do that. But this one is enough to meet our initial need and fulfill the construction permit deadline in July 2015.

Things are really starting to come together!

Next week I go back to Birmingham, AL for a short advanced class at the Alabama Broadcasters Association. I hope to take the SBE CRBE test at the end of the course.
