A strike out and a home run

[Today’s run: Watson Road]

Today was Thanksgiving and a busy day.

We got up early because my wife was off to a 1/2-marathon about 90 minutes away and needed to meet someone to carpool, and be there before the packet-pick-up closed at 6:30.

I fooled around with a variety of stuff.  My major job today was to cook the Thanksgiving turkey and the mashed potatoes.  Other people were bringing deserts and side dishes and we were all going to eat when the wife got back from her race.

The schedule worked out great except for one thing:  I didn’t do a good job preparing the turkey and it wasn’t ready in time.  So we ate all of the side dishes and a little bit of the turkey that I shaved off and zapped in the microwave.  The meal turned out OK, but my turkey was a turkey.  Strike Out on that one.

On the other hand, the wife ran a tremendously good 1/2-marathon.  She got 2nd place in her age division and broke her personal best record.  She was 10 minutes faster than even her goal time.  A Home Run on that one.

I consoled myself with a piece of apple pie after everyone went home this afternoon.  So, I’d say the day turned out OK in the big picture.
