[Today’s run: 4 miles]
I’ve been doing some DXing again. This morning I got through to 4w0vb in Timor. He was coming through loudly on the 20 meter band.
Timor is a long way from here. It is just about the opposite side of the globe. The shortest route from here is at 300 degrees (northwest). I was pointing my antenna toward the southeast. So I was on the “long path”.
He was coming in very clearly. I first thought he was a station in the Caribbean. He very rarely transmitted his callsign which made it kind of frustrating. I looked on one of the DX spot websites (where people post recent DX contacts) and was able to figure out who he was. Later he sent his callsign and I confirmed it. I was intently listening and didn’t actually attempt the contact until after he started to fade. But he heard me ok.
