When the Dog Bites, When the Bee Stings…

Today’s Run:  7 miles  time: 1:32

This morning found us in Starkville with the running group.  The scheduled run was for thirteen miles but we only ran to the first water stop and back (seven miles).  It was a perfect morning for a run.  68 degrees, sunny, light breeze…perfect!  The run went fast and then it was over to my parents for a quick gab session.  All in all, a super morning.

Then we came home and got into the hives in the hopes of gathering some honey. We have some orders to fill but have had no opportunity to visit the bees.  By the time we were able to open the hives it was in the mid 80’s and a little too warm and also a little late in the morning to be paying a visit to the bees but seeing as we won’t be having another opportunity to do this again for a few weeks, we decided to do it anyway.

The bees were not happy!  We smoked them, we were as nice as we possibly could be to them and they still were not happy!  We admitted defeat and retreated; me with 5 stings through double layer of jeans and Chris with 2 through his bee jacket!  We are now licking our wounds and planning our next visit.  No honey today and the score stands at the bees seven and us zero.
