39 Days

Actually, today is almost over so we technically could almost say 38 days.  Either way, it comes down to the 50 Mile race is getting close!

Last Wednesday, if you recall, was probably the worst run I’ve ever had in my life.  In all honesty, I’ve been dreading running since then!  BUT, the race is getting closer so I’ve dutifully laced up my running shoes and hit the road every day, collecting my assigned miles.

But not with the joy for running I usually have in my heart.

Last weeks 26.40 miles really hurt.

Today, it didn’t feel freezing cold outdoors!  It was in the low 40’s (F)!  There was a strong wind but even that was from the south.  Couldn’t believe my good fortune!!!  I put on my running stuff and hit the road for today’s 10 miles.

What a fun, fun run!!!  It was wonderful to run and not freeze to death!  I had to fight against the wind for 3 miles but I even enjoyed that seeing as it was a southerly wind instead of that nasty north wind we’d been having.

The miles flew by and before I knew it, I was back home.  10 miles in the bank.

BOOM!

I’m still getting super nervous about the big race.  There’s no getting around that.  In my mind I’m revisiting the course.

I ran this same course last March but ran the 50K.  I’m trying to remember this hills.  The water crossings.  The mud.  I’m trying to put together a race strategy.  Where to walk it.  Where to run it.  Fueling strategy.  How much time I can allow myself on each loop and still complete all 5 loops in my 12hr time limit.

I’m a wreck.

HA!

This is going to be so awesome!!!

Next thing on my list is to verify with the race director that I can get a buckle for Aiden!  It’d be a shame to run 50M and not get him a buckle!

I’m so excited!!!

Tomorrow is a rest day and then Wednesday will be my last looooonnngg, long run in preparation for this race.  30 miles.

Let’s do this!!!
