On a whim, I registered for the 2015 miles in 2015 with RunTheEdge. I had originally planned on attempting 2000 miles for the 2015 calendar year but then one of my “friends” had to go and point out to me that if I registered with RunTheEdge and run 2015 miles, I would score a very nice medal.

I signed up. I’m such a sucker for a gimmick!
To be honest, I was pretty tentative about this lofty goal. Last year I barely, and I mean BARELY made my mileage goal of 1600 miles. 2000 was going to be a pretty big stretch! Like my “friend” said, though, what’s another 15 miles!?!
I had a huge mileage December. A little over 200 miles, so I went into this year pretty tired. Ran as well as I could in January but ended the month a little below the miles I needed to make the 2015 goal.
February. Wow. The entire month of February was one giant taper. PLUS, Feb is a short month! Yikes! My taper was pretty lame. I kept piling on the miles while trying to catch up with myself. Ran a marathon on Valentine’s Day and did a quasi taper for a 50K the first weekend of March.
So, here we are at the end of March. The first quarter of 2015 is drawing to a close. Time to tally things up and see just how things were stacking up with this goal I let myself be talked into.
My mileage total for March was 184.40 miles. This was a pretty hefty month as far as miles go. I added all three months together. I really, really, really wanted to be close to 500 miles but didn’t know how short I would be.
If I was super low, I didn’t know how I would be able to catch up my miles in April. So, I grabbed a piece of paper, a pencil and started counting…
509.15 miles.
Sweet!
I am right where I need to be!
This also means that I can and will take a rest day tomorrow!
Rest Day…has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it???
Nice to know that I’m not going to have to be frantically playing the catch up on miles game.
Whew!
