Most of you know that I ran Ragnar-TN this past Friday and Saturday. What an adventure that was! I still haven’t decided if I liked it or not. It was very different from anything I had ever done before.
However…
We (the two vans) stopped for lunch on our way north to Chattanooga. We were, I think, in Birmingham, Alabama. I’m not positive about that but I think that is where we stopped.
Anyway…
We stopped at a very nice shopping center for Mexican Food. I wasn’t quite sure about what I thought about eating Mexican food the day before the race but decided to throw caution to the wind (I was careful in what I ordered though.). After our lunch, the people with whom I would be running decided they wanted to shop a little bit. So, shop we did.
The first place on their list was the lulumon (http://shop.lululemon.com/home.jsp) store.
Now, I want it to be known right here, that I had a bad taste in my mouth regarding this store. I had read in the past about how they refused to make their clothing past a certain size and that if you wore a larger size than what they offered (I think they don’t make clothing past a women’s 10 or 12), then that was just too bad. If you wanted to wear their stuff, then you should lose some weight to fit into their stuff.
I strongly felt that was very, very wrong. Talk about stuck up! I swore I would never buy any of their stuff.
Never say never.
See, I have been shopping FOREVER for a pair of solid black running shorts. How hard can it be, right!?! A pair of just plain old black running shorts. You cannot find them people. They are not to be had.
We entered the lulumon store and what do I see? Yup. You got it. Solid black running shorts. I was grinding my teeth.
The saleslady was very helpful. I knew that this store on purpose makes their clothing on the small side (they really think they are the cats me-ow!) so I had no idea what size I would wear. The saleslady looked at me and said, “Here is a size 2. I think that should fit. Why don’t you try them on.”
*sigh*
I tried them on. They fit perfect! I was so upset. I didn’t want them to fit. I didn’t want to like them. They were awesome shorts! Oh wow~they were beyond awesome! I have never, ever worn anything like those shorts. ARGH! I was so upset. But…
I bought them.
Then I broke the cardinal rule of running. I wore them in my first race. Without ever washing them. You never, ever, EVER wear anything new on race day! They. Were. Perfect. No chafing. No binding. No twisting. I was speechless. I was in love.
So, now I am facing a dilemma. I want another pair. My other black shorts (the pair I wore in my last race) are almost completely dead. I would like to replace them with another pair of the lulumon shorts.
There are times when I have a difficult time justifying my decisions. I can think of a zillion reasons as to why I NEED another pair of shorts but I think I’ll just put this on the back burner for now.
Christmas is coming. Right!?!
